Description

We are currently seeking a highly dedicated and compassionate Personal Care Assistant to join our team at the Senior Living Assisted Living Facility for the Personal Care Attendant position. As a Personal Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing essential care and support to our residents in need. This position requires individuals who can thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a strong commitment to resident well-being. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our senior assisted living team, ensuring the comfort and safety of our residents throughout their stay.

As a Personal Care Assistant, you will be responsible for various tasks such as assisting residents with their daily activities, ensuring their personal hygiene needs are met, and providing emotional support. This includes but is not limited to feeding, bathing, dressing, and helping with mobility. You must also be proficient in basic medical procedures such as taking vital signs and accurately documenting patient information. Additionally, you will be working closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to monitor residents' conditions and report any changes or concerns.

Our ideal candidate(s) should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with residents, their families, and the healthcare team. You must possess empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to provide the highest level of care to residents in need. Furthermore, organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a high-pressure environment are essential for success in this role. This is a physically demanding job, and you must be capable of lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods.

Essential Functions

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, such as grooming, oral hygiene, bathing, toileting, changing undergarments, brushing and combing their hair, and transferring to and from activities and meals as needed.

  • Provide assistance with the personal environment of the resident, including clothing, linens, and personal items.

  • Lift and/or transfer residents as necessary.

  • Assist with the preparation and presentation of meals, serving the residents, and performing other tasks related to dining. Report any changes in the eating habits of the residents to the supervisor.

  • Perform rounds every two hours according to the resident's service plan or as needed.

  • Record and report any changes in the resident's status, including, without limitation, changes in the resident's ability to perform activities of daily living, skin changes, bruises, and so forth, to the supervisor.

  • Document pertinent information in the resident's chart in accordance with approved charting procedures.

  • Report any incidents or accidents involving residents to the Resident Care Director/Supervisor immediately and record all essential details on the Resident Incident and Accident Reporting Form.

  • Follow appropriate emergency procedures and respond immediately and positively to all requests for assistance from our residents, including but not limited to emergency pullcords, telephone calls, or requests from family and friends.

  • Ensure that any environmental hazards are safely corrected and prevented, following universal precautions and infection control procedures.

  • Immediately report any suspicion of abuse, neglect, or misappropriation of funds or property belonging to the resident to your immediate supervisor.

  • Perform duties as assigned and participate in any required training sessions.

  • Fulfill all medication monitoring responsibilities delegated by the Wellness Director.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

  • Knowledge of basic medical procedures and terminology

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Physical stamina to handle heavy lifting and long periods of standing.

  • Must have reliable means of transportation.

  • Be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must pass criminal history check and must not be listed on the Employee Misconduct Registry/ NAR in Texas only.

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 – 36 per week
